A family friend recently passed away and left his wife with a car she needs to sell. It’s a 1996 Camaro SS, collectable-ish, numbered car of some limited SS series, V8, manual, low miles (18,600), some mods by SLP engineering, and pristine clean.
It probably won’t make the cut for BaT. She’s looking for $25K.
Does anybody have any recommendations on places to sell this one?

I think that would make the cut for BAT. They seem to list anything. If they won’t take it, put a BMW roundel/Porsche badge on it and try again; they’ll definitely take it at that point.

They'll probably list it, but they tend to really push the no reserve thing on buyers unless it is something really special. Beyond them, that seems like something that could do well on eBay motors. Model specific forums also tend to be a good place to sell really good examples of something.

I'd definitely make a post on ls1tech.

BaT would probably take that. Pr ice may be a bit high for mile age but probably isn’t far off (low 20s?) . Or try eBay. Maybe 4th gen FB groups, but not sure on that one.

I haven't dug into this car but I think it's an LT 4. I'll look on ls1tech, though. Thanks.

I thought the price was a bit high for the market as well. It is clean and is a well documented car but some of the recent repairs and maintenance items seem odd to me. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the tip. It's not my car and I don't think the owner would go for a no reserve auction.

Pretty sure 96 marked the first year of the SS return.
My recollection is a little fuzzy on these but my dads business partner had an ‘02 SS which back then was said to be the last Camaro.
As I remember it, the SS was basically a Z28 that was “tuned” by SLP (basically GMs less successful attempt at say a Roush or Shelby). They added like 15-20hp iirc through an intake and exhaust. They also got different suspension and some unique wheels. I seem to remember the package going for ~$5000 over the Z28.
If the 96 was the first year of this SLP package, I could see a clean, well documented, low mile one like this being worth some good coin to the right buyer. The challenge would be finding that buyer.
I’d suggest hitting up all the F body forums and Facebook groups. BaT might be a good call but for some reason I don’t see it going for big money on there organically . You could probably list privately, share on the groups and forums and save some money in buyers fees. Or post it with a reserve on eBay and share the crap out of it.

Yeah, this one was custom ordered with $7K of SLP performance goodies. It seems that it came with every go fast part they had. With the GM options, it pushed a $19K car to $31K.

Nice car but I can't see it breaking 20k as a 96' the lt1 cars will never bring as much as the facelift and ls cars.

Waitaminnit. It has an LT4? Is it a 97 30th Anniversary LT4 SS that's been repainted black? Please tell me it's not.

It’s not a 30th Anniversary Edition. It’s a 1996. Most things I’ve read about this model indicate it should have an LT1 with 275hp. I have do cuments from SLP indicating a 310hp upgrade. I’ve ridden in it and it feels way more powerful than 310hp. I know it’s had the engine out and almost $5,000 worth of work done . I asked the guy who photographed the car to stick a magnet to the block and heads to see if they were iron. He indicated that neither were attracted to the magnet. I'm confused by the car.

LOL perhaps I should have read the post instead of skimmed. My bad.
That's weird. AFAIK, only the LT5 was all aluminum. And you can tell those apart pretty quick.
